Outdoor escape room
What is an outdoor escape room?
An outdoor escape room is an escape game that needs no room. Your phone takes the game master's part: it guides you through the city from station to station, and hands you a puzzle at each one. The answer is not on the screen but around you: on a stone plaque, on the base of a statue, in the ornament of a facade.
Every other difference follows from that. There is no booking, because there is no room to book: you set off when it suits you and go at your own pace. There is no capacity limit either, and if you stop for a coffee your progress is saved. You still get the story and the moment a puzzle clicks, you were just outdoors while it happened, and you end up knowing a city.
How is it different?
CityCode or the usual
The same afternoon, three very different experiences.
Guided walk and escape room prices are indicative market ranges, per person. The CityCode price covers the whole team.
Who is it for?
Anyone who enjoys thinking together and does not mind walking a few kilometres along the way. Missions differ in length and difficulty, so there is one to match the group.
Groups of friends
One ticket covers the whole team, so you are not paying per person. The puzzles ask for different kinds of thinking, so everyone gets one they are good at.
A date
There is plenty to talk about, and you do not have to sit facing each other for two hours. You stop wherever you like, and the city does the rest.
Families with children
The easier missions work with children and there is no fixed pace. Several routes are pram-friendly, and each mission page says so up front.
A gift
An experience beats an object. A gift card can be bought for any amount, and whoever receives it picks the city and the story themselves.

Where can you play?
We currently have missions in Budapest and Győr. Each one tells you in advance where it starts, how long it takes and how hard it is.
Common questions about outdoor escape rooms
- How long does an outdoor escape room take?
- Typically between 90 minutes and two and a half hours, depending on the mission. Since there is no fixed slot and no lockout, that is only a guide: going slower or stopping for lunch takes nothing away. Each mission page gives its own estimate.
- Do we need to install an app?
- No. The game runs in your phone browser, so opening the link you get after buying is enough.
- How many people can play on one ticket?
- One ticket covers a team, not a person. In practice two to six is comfortable, because that is how many can watch one phone screen together. For a larger group it is better to start several teams.
- What happens if it rains?
- Since there is no booking, you simply go another day. A purchased mission stays valid for a year, so nothing is lost if the weather turns.
- Do we need local knowledge beforehand?
- No. Everything you need to solve a puzzle is either on the spot or in the game. It works for locals and visitors alike, and in fact locals tend to find the most that is new to them.
- What is the difference between an outdoor and a traditional escape room?
- The main one is that there is no room: the city is the playing field, and the answers are on real buildings, statues and stone plaques. That is why there is no booking, no capacity limit set by the size of a room, and no countdown locking you out. The story and the puzzles are still there.
